Main features of chalet
The chalet is ideally situated to enjoy spectacular sunsets over
St Ives bay and is tucked away in a quiet and secluded area of dunes
directly above the beach. The car park is within easy walking distance
and the coastal footpath runs along the front of the chalet, leading
to the estuary and beaches as well as the dunes which provide a
perfect habitat for birds and wild life. The chalet offers very
comfortable and easy living and is an ideal base from which to explore
Cornwall.
The beach and estuary are popular for surfing, windsurfing and numerous
other water sports. Hayle town is a ten minute walk away and has
a good selection of shops, supermarkets, restaurants, cafés,
pubs and art galleries. There is a golf course across the estuary
at Lelant and great walks through the dunes, along the cliffs or
around the estuary. The numerous theme parks and activities in West
Cornwall will ensure your children never get bored.
St Ives town is about a ten minute drive away or you can enjoy a
leisurely train ride from the Park & Ride station just outside
Hayle. For the more energetic, a walk along the three miles of golden
sands will bring you to Godrevy Lighthouse and the National Trust
Café which offers good food and light refreshments. The Eden
Project, Heligan Gardens, and many other major attractions are within
easy reach of Hayle.
For those who simply wish to relax there is ample space on the patio
or grassy areas to the rear and side of the chalet to put out the
deck chair and chill. Children can play safely by the chalet or
in the sites play areas which are close by.
Built in a traditional wooden style, the chalet has recently been
extensively renovated and has double glazed windows and sun porch.
A spacious and comfortable open plan living/dining area is furnished
with solid pine table and dresser, futon sofa and two easy chairs.
A radio/tape/CD player plus a portable colour television and DVD player will keep
you in touch with your favourite programmes and there are games
and books to distract you on those lazy or wet days. Please bring
your own CDs and tapes.
There are three bedrooms, one with a double bed, one with full size
bunks and one with a single bed which has a pull out guest bed.
Ample storage space is available in wardrobes, chests of drawers
or under-bed drawers.
The separate kitchen is fitted with modern units and has a washing
machine, dual cooker/microwave, electric hob, fridge freezer and
sufficient crockery, cutlery, cookware etc. for up to six people.
A water heater under the kitchen sink feeds both the kitchen and
bathroom basins and you may have to wait a minute or two for it
to reheat if you fill both at once.
The fully tiled bathroom has a double size shower cubicle and separate
WC both of which rely on an electric pump system to pump the waste
up to the mains drain.
The flooring is mainly wood or tiles so it is reasonably
easy to clean, but the sand does accumulate at an alarming rate.
There is an iron and ironing board and the washing line can be found
to the side of the chalet.
I would welcome suggestions and feedback so please leave comments
in the Visitors book provided. If there are any problems there is
an information book at the chalet which gives details of who to
contact. |
